Food and Nutrition

The intention of our Food and Nutrition curriculum is:

To prepare students to participate confidently and successfully in an increasingly technological and scientific world.
Students will gain awareness and learn from wider influences on food and nutrition including social, cultural, environmental and economic factors. Students will get the opportunity to work creatively when designing and making and apply technical and practical expertise.
Our chosen GCSE specification allows students to study core practical and making principles, including a broad range of molecular and scientific processes, materials techniques and equipment.

Students will also have the opportunity to study specialist technical principles in greater depth and develop an informed approach that will help learners to evaluate choices and decisions about their own diet and health which will last them a lifetime.

Our Food and Nutrition curriculum is implemented by:

Teaching students a wide range of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills.

Students are taught in a well-equipped specialist Food Technology room and are supported by a technician to ensure the maximum amount of time can be devoted to preparing and cooking ingredients

The qualification has a balanced content allowing our children to be a creative Chef alongside a Scientist and backs up other curriculum areas such as: History, Geography, RE and many more.

The impact of our Food & Nutrition curriculum is for:
