Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance

Careers Education, Information Advice, and Guidance make a major contribution towards preparing young people for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. In order to help them make a successful transition into a well-matched place of work, all young people need a planned programme of activities to help them make informed decisions.

All Saints Academy are fully committed to providing a rigorous and stable CEIAG programme, and we work hard to ensure that we meet each element of the Gatsby Benchmarks.

The Eight Gatsby Benchmarks:

1. A stable careers programme

A clear, consistent, and well-understood careers education plan.

2. Learning from career and labour market information

Access to up-to-date info on future options and job opportunities.

What is Labour Market Information (LMI)?

Labour Market Information (LMI) is anything that describes the world of work, including:

  • Descriptions of careers and jobs
  • The promotional prospects in different careers
  • The salary you can be paid
  • The skills and qualifications you need for a particular job
  • Where to find job vacancies

LMI also includes information and statistics about the national, regional and local labour markets, as well as the future of the labour market, which is particularly important for school pupils to get a picture of what the labour market in their chosen industry might look like when they leave school and start to look for work.

We encourage students to engage with all kinds LMI on a regular basis so they can make informed careers choices and decisions, which give the best possibility to reach their potential and have a successful and happy future.

Southern Universities Network

The Southern Universities Network was established to support the Government’s ambitions to make faster progress nationally to widen access to Higher Education through the:

Uni Connect Programme

Uni Connect is funded by the Office for Pupils and is currently focused on providing higher education outreach to young people in years 9 – 13 living in particular areas where higher education participation is lower than might be expected given the GCSE results of the young people who live there.

In our current climate, the SUN has put together a range of interactive workbooks and instructional videos, which are designed to give you more information about topics such as: Options, HE campus explorer, Finance and Apprenticeships.

This area also includes a student newsletter, and exciting news of a Virtual Festival based around the Digital and Creative industries – one not to miss!

SUN resources for pupils
