All Saints Church of England Academy

Collective Worship

As a Church school, everything we do is rooted in our Christian vision:

have life, and have it to the full” – John 10:10

This vision inspires us to be exceptional in all that we do. It shapes our shared values:

  • Build Community
  • Act Wisely
  • Show Kindness
  • Embrace Opportunities
  • Help Others

Collective Worship is at the heart of school life at All Saints. It brings our vision and values to life, creating space for reflection, celebration, prayer, and spiritual growth.

Daily Act of Worship

Each day begins with a Daily Act of Worship, led by our Heads of Houses.

This includes a Thought for the Day, linked to one of our school values. Reflections may draw on:

  • Bible passages
  • Inspiring quotes from books or films
  • Well-known sayings
  • Stories that encourage wisdom and kindness

Pupils are given time to be still, reflect, and pause in silence — an important opportunity in a busy school day to think deeply and reconnect with what matters most.

Friday Collective Worship Assemblies

Every Friday, we gather together for Collective Worship assemblies. These are led by a variety of members of our community, including:

Local Clergy

  • Father Anthony
  • Reverend John Mackenzie
  • Curate Ash
  • Joe Hobday

Staff and Volunteers

  • Miss Lewendon
  • Mr Purkis
  • Mrs Dymott
  • Sophie Burditt
  • Mrs Cullen

These assemblies are engaging, uplifting, and inclusive — often involving music, prayer, reflection, and pupil participation.

Flourish Group

Flourish is a pupil-led worship and leadership group for students in Years 7–11.

Led by Sophie Burditt and Miss Lewendon, Flourish focuses on increasing worship engagement among young people and strengthening the Christian ethos of the school.

Flourish members:

  • Lead assemblies
  • Plan and deliver worship events
  • Write and lead prayers
  • Develop and enhance the Chapel space
  • Support other pupils
  • Encourage spiritual growth across the school

They are passionate about church life and about helping others grow in faith and confidence.

What Pupils Say About Flourish and Collective Worship

School Prayer and Hymn

We are proud to have a school prayer and a school hymn, both written and created by staff and students of All Saints. These reflect our shared vision, our faith, and our commitment to living life to the full.

School Prayer

Lord,

As a school community we seek your guidance so that we act wisely, build community and help others.

We strive to treat each other as we wish to be treated so that we live and learn together in a community built on your love and wisdom.

Help us to encourage one another and celebrate each other's achievements.

Amen.

School Hymn

We are the voices of All Saints

In faith, in love, in learning,

guided by your light

Together we stand as one,

Keeping our values strong

Always.

Being courageous, being kind

Doing our best with God always on our mind

Living life to the full,

Being exceptional

Always.

Chorus:

We are All Saints

And we’re building our community

We are the greatest team

Live in faith and unity

We are All Saints

And we’re building our community

We are guided by,

Your all-loving light

We will love one another.

We are the voices of All Saints

Responsibility, resilience, and love,

God is within our hearts,

Together we’ll never part,

Always.

Chorus:

We are All Saints

And we’re building our community

We are the greatest team

Live in faith and unity

We are All Saints

And we’re building our community

We are guided by,

Your all-loving light

We will love one another.

Alpha Club

Alpha Club is open to pupils in Years 7–11 and offers the opportunity to explore faith, ask big questions, and discuss important life topics in a welcoming and open environment.

Run by Joe Hobday, Alpha Club encourages thoughtful discussion and supports pupils in developing their understanding of Christianity and their own beliefs.

Annual Pilgrimage

Each year, we take part in a pilgrimage between Weymouth and Bridport, supported by the Diocese and local churches.

This special experience helps pupils:

  • Develop their spirituality
  • Explore and deepen their faith
  • Build strong connections with one another
  • Reflect away from the busyness of everyday life

The pilgrimage is a powerful opportunity for community, challenge, and growth.

Mass and Chapel Life

Weekly Mass

Mass is held every Thursday morning, led by Father Anthony and Mrs Dymott. Pupils who wish to attend are warmly welcomed.

Chapel Space

Our Chapel is a central and cherished part of school life. Many worship activities take place here, and pupils know it is a space they can use for quiet reflection and prayer whenever they need.

Prayer and Drop-In Sessions

Sophie Burditt also offers a Prayer and Drop-In Sessions during Friday breaktimes and lunchtime, providing a supportive and welcoming environment for conversation, prayer, or quiet time.

A Community Rooted in Faith

Collective Worship at All Saints is about more than assemblies. It is about creating a community where everyone feels:

  • Included
  • Valued
  • Heard
  • Supported
  • Encouraged to grow

Through worship, reflection, leadership opportunities, and shared experiences, we truly seek to have life, and have to the full — together.
