Learning Resources Centre (Library)
Welcome to the LRC
The Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is the learning hub at the heart of the school. It is welcoming and warm place that is an integral part of our school community.
We have an extensive and up-to-date range of fiction as well as books to support the programmes of study at KS3 and KS4. It is important that our students to read for pleasure as well as for study and parents/carers are encouraged to discuss books and reading with their children and to support the school in valuing the habit of regular reading.
Our LRC careers library is well-stocked with books, pamphlets, and college and university prospectuses to assist our students in planning the next stages of their education and future careers. In addition, the LRC computer suite provides students with access to the internet for research and homework. We also run small group reading support lessons in the LRC using the recognised and evidenced based Reading Plus programme to help our pupils progress and gain confidence with their reading skills.
As well as being a source of books and information, the LRC hosts various clubs during break lunchtimes, creative club, chess and draughts club, book club and quiz club on set days of the week. The LRC is open for reading and private study before school each morning as well as after school for homework club/support.
