All Saints Church of England Academy

St Veronica House

St Veronica House is built around the core values of Kindness and compassion. Saint Veronica was canonised to Sainthood through her actions on the day of Christ’s crucifixion. As Christ struggled towards to the hilltop with the cross, Veronica reached out and gave him a cloth to wipe his face. She was the only person who dared to help Jesus.

As a house we follow her example, we always strive to have the courage to act with kindness even when it isn’t the easy option. I have been incredibly proud to join Saint Veronica House this academic year; it is a positive and thriving community of students who look out for each other and have achieved very strong levels of attendance and achievement.

My background in education is in Personal, Social, Health and Relationships education and I am passionate about providing all students of House Veronica the skills and values that they will need to be independent and flourishing members of society after they leave here.

We are blessed in Saint Veronica House with a fantastic House Manager. Miss Phillips is always there for everyone in the house to provide a listening ear and support with attendance, behaviour and other issues that the students of Saint Veronica are facing. We are also lucky have a fantastic tutor team who serve as the first point of contact between home and school.

I am incredibly proud of St Veronica and everything our students stand for. The typical House Veronica student is a kind and generous person; we celebrate the achievements of other students every morning as part of our Line Up routine. I also pride myself on Veronica’s reputation as the punctual house. We are always first to assemblies and services and therefore maximise our potential. I am excited to continue to lead this great community of students throughout their time at All Saints Academy.

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you

House Poem

Veronica, our houses Patron Saints, followed Christ

At a time where it was a risk to her life

Pursued, aggressively

By the Roman Army

Fledgling Christians were afeared

To the Romans they appeared

As a threat to their way of life

Fear, terror, panic was rife

But Veronica never let the fear set in

She knew that her new religion would win

If only she continued to show the love compassion

That wasn’t really in fashion

At the time,

As though caring was some terrible crime

She had learnt from her Lord and saviour

To be braver

To have the courage of her convictions

To attempt to ease the frictions

Between classes, races and religions

She had love for people of all regions

She was kind she believed

That in heaven she would be received

For the way she lived in peace

We can more like Veronica, by channelling her energy,

She was kind to all, her mind was free,

She had a vision, and the things that she could see

Showed her how the world could be

We can be the same, at All Saints Academy

Be the best that we can be

Act wisely and courageously

Grow as people, learn new skills

Find new things that give you thrills

Learn science and philosophy, rid the world of its ills

All of this instils

In us a sense of motivation

A chance to rise to the occasion

By belonging to this house, we have a community

Our vision, our values help us see

Just how amazing we can be

So, be more Veronica, be a saint, try your best

Put new skills to the test,

Learn music, languages, be proud to wear the All Saints Crest

And know that you can do whatever you set out to achieve

As long, like Veronica, you believe

 House Prayer

Lord,

Bless the members of House Veronica with the kindness of their Patron Saint, allow them the opportunity to be the best that they can be.

Allow them to act wisely and build community, feel safe and be protected at their School. Give them the courage to embrace opportunities wherever they find them. Give them the wisdom to show kindness in as many ways as they can.

Allow them to flourish in this environment, shine with your light, and learn the lessons taught by your son Jesus Christ,

Amen
